Villa Manuk - The Manuksesa Children Project

The Manuksesa Children Project is our effort to help the children of the Manuksesa village, where Villa Manuk is nested, continue their education.

Rice Harvesting in Manuksesa, North BaliThe little village of Manuksesa has around 300 inhabitants and it is not extremely poor in the common sense; the people have enough food and water, but most of them are only simple tenant farmers. This farmer life in North Bali is full of work and poorly remunerated. These families are able to feed their children, but many of them do not have enough money to send them to high school – university is just a dream. Some of them may afford to provide their first child with further education than the elementary school, but the second child has almost no chance to continue studies. The Indonesian Elementary School has 6 classes, the Junior High School comes next and has 3 classes and the High School follows with 3 more classes.

The children of Manuksesa are all great children who enjoy their childhood and have their dreams, to become teachers, nurses or policemen. And we would very much love to support them.

And we will involve these children in our village trainings.

We already made a good start. Two of our friends are already supporting 5 children. These children are not mentioned on this page. For us it is very important to control everything well, we will not allow any abuse of money. Our aim is to support children who respect this big gift from their sponsors and take school seriously. Beside monitoring the expenses for school, we will monitor their progress reports as well.

Our first sponsor has already opened a bank account in Germany for the children she is sponsoring. We will use the same bank account for the rest of the donations. The monthly account statement and information will be sent to those donating for this project. We personally donate our time and effort to run the project, plus all administration expenses.

But this is not all we would like to do in our project. We are organising seminars with them for healthy food, waste management, gardening, water and waste water, sustainable agriculture, permaculture, etc. We were very astonished to hear from all children, that none of them wanted to be a farmer. For them it is a synonym for poverty. So we think it should be as well our task to help children appreciate the importance of good and healthy farming in our lives, especially in a place like Bali, where sustainable farming is feasible, and hopefully to motivate them to learn more about all these subjects. And who knows, perhaps this generation will be the successful organic farmers of the future!

We will be glad if you are interested in our project and if you can pass this information to your friends. In case you like to become a sponsor of the project please contact us and we will provide you with all relevant information and the bank details. It is also possible to sponsor individual children. We will be glad to give a regular report to all sponsors.
